Ai từng một lần thưởng thức cơm nếp Khẩu Tan Đón (NếpThẳm Dương - Văn Bàn) sẽ chẳng thể nào quên được vị dẻo thơm quyến luyến, để rồi về sau có ăn vô số thứ nếp khác, vẫn cứ mãi “tơ tưởng” đến Khẩu Tan Đón - loại nếp nức tiếng Lào Cai, được mệnh danh là "Đệ nhất nếp". Theo phân tích của các nhà khoa học, gạo nếp Khẩu Tan Đón Thẩm Dương có đặc tính chất lượng như sau: Hàm lượng protein tổng số từ 6,23% - 7,03%; Hàm lượng tinh bột từ 68,58% - 70,23%; Hàm lượng sắt từ 15,06mg/kg - 17,93mg/kg; Hàm lượng vitamin B1 từ 0,42mg/100g - 0,63mg/100g; Hàm lượng Amylose từ 2,67% - 3,70%. Những tính chất, chất lượng đặc thù của gạo nếp Khẩu Tan Đón Thẩm Dương có được là do điều kiện địa lý tự nhiên của khu vực địa lý và kinh nghiệm canh tác của người dân.
